We can, but we consider it only an interim solution.  We take a number of factors into account, and the most critical is to check if the existing hot water cylinder capacity is compatible with our solar thermal collector.

If you wish to achieve machimum energy savings we recommend you purchase one of our purpose designed Solar Ready Hot Water Cylinders.

In many instances an existing HWC with a wet back connection can be integrated with the solar collector.  Suitability is best confirmed during a site visit at which time we can provide you with a recommendation.

The storage capacity of your HWC is typically in the region of 135 to 180 litre for a 4 person family.  Your hot water consumption will more than likely exceed the capacity and the HWC will be reheated frequently over the course of the day.

For improvded energy savings we recommend a hot water stroage cylinder 1.5 - 2.0 times more than your daily consumption.  The surplus hot water will provide a buffer, to be used during periods of rain.

If you HWC needs replacing we recommend you give us a call.  We will visit your home and determine the optimum HWC capacity to suit a future solar water heating installation.  The cost difference between a conventional HWC and Solar HWC is minimal and you will be future proofed.

We can pre-heat the water in the boiler circuit, effectively reducing the load on the boiler.

This will lower you oil consumption, boiler run times, and reduce you overall energy costs in the process.
